Mike Garland has been crafting Silverstream wines as a contract winemaker since 2007. His maiden voyage into the wine industry started with studying Wine Science at Charles Sturt University and then commencing 'Garlands' his own vineyard/winery business. He has become an advocate for this region and holds a wealth of knowledge and passion for cool climate wines, viticulture, winemaking and marketing.
We asked Mike why he enjoys working with our grapes...
"I’ve always enjoyed making wine for small, family run businesses that have a passion for wine and particularly when these vineyards have a unique micro-climate or 'terroir' that gives them individuality and character."

2018 Riesling
RRP $28 | PACK PRICE $22.50
"The Silverstream block is quite unique and has shown an amazing consistency – with really intense Riesling character and a beautiful purity of fruit that comes through year after year. Only tiny quantities of Riesling are grown in Denmark and this block clearly shows if you have the right aspect that allows for ripeness and aids disease control (Riesling is notorious for disease) it is possible to grow world class Riesling."
2016 Chardonnay
RRP $35 | PACK PRICE $27.50
"Like the Riesling block, the Silverstream Chardonnay blocks (including the new clonal material) are amazingly consistent and show great potential. The Denmark climate and Karri-Loam soils lend itself to growing outstanding Chardonnay – healthy canopies (but not dense) which minimises sunburnt phenolics, a long ripening season for intense flavour development and amazing acid retention for longevity."
2017 Pinot Noir
RRP $35 | PACK PRICE $27.50
"I chose this wine (narrowly over the Cab Franc) mainly because of it’s potential. Pinot is very fickle in the vineyard, but when it’s right it’s extremely exciting."
