Floral, with a hint of dried oregano and juicy blackcurrants. Undertones of pencil shavings from the seasoned oak. A medium to full bodied Cabernet Franc that exhibits flavours of cherry and licorice with a hint of tobacco leaf. The wine is wonderfully integrated with the oak and delivers flavour, balance and tremendous length on the finish. A classic Cabernet Franc that is drinking well now but will continue to age for the next eight to ten years.

Description
The fruit was handpicked and then transferred to the crusher/de-stemmer for processing. The fruit was fermented in open top stainless steel tanks using gentle extraction (hand plunging) to maximise the varietal flavours and secure a soft and plush tannin stucture in the fruit. The wine was then pressed off and matured in seasoned French oak for 10 months. Minimal fining and filtration prior to bottling.

Cabernet Franc 2018 “This is the best wine I have tasted from Silverstream. It was avery good vintage and it has been handled perfectly to get the best out of the fruit and this variety. It’s smooth with chalky fine tannins and a subtle infusion of oak. The black inner fruit core is expressive, and the perfumed aromas show some classic ethereal cab franc characters. Really nice wine.”

“Good flow of flavour here. Good volume of it too. Toast, briar, clove and dark/red berried flavours rumble attractively through the palate, grainy/grassy/dusty tannin leading it through the finish. Both gum leaf and floral notes add lift throughout. Drinking well now but will hold and mature over the next handful of years.”
